This page rests on the providers' own plan, pricing and management pages, which we opened on 7 November 2026. Prices are monthly, shown in the currency the provider shows, and are not converted. Where a page shows only a dollar sign, we show the dollar sign. Figures we could not confirm on the provider's page are marked as such or left out. We sell one of the products listed, and our plans are marked.

Managed VPS hosting means a virtual server that the provider sets up, patches and monitors for you, usually with a control panel such as cPanel installed. This page puts managed VPS hosting plans from nine providers in one place, grouped by number of vCPU, with the prices and specifications we read on each provider's own page in November 2026.

A price alone does not tell you much about managed VPS hosting. Managed VPS plans are only comparable when you look at what is inside: the control panel licence and its account limit, the scope of management, the storage type and the backups. This managed VPS comparison therefore shows those items next to every price.

What managed VPS hosting includes, and what it does not

Liquid Web describes managed VPS hosting as the provider taking care of the technical side of the server: initial set-up, updates, security, monitoring and 24/7 support. On its self-managed plans, the customer is responsible for everything beyond the infrastructure, including OS updates, security and troubleshooting. The same provider also sells a middle level, so the word managed alone does not fix the scope.

Managed VPS hosting differs between providers, as the management table below shows. Before you compare VPS hosting providers on price, check these points for each plan:

  • Control panel licence. Is it in the price, and how many accounts does it allow? cPanel licences are priced by number of accounts.
  • Management scope. Who patches the OS, who watches the server, and who restores a backup?
  • Root access. Some managed plans give root access, others do not.
  • Price type. Is the price an introductory price, and what is the renewal price? Does it depend on the billing term?
  • VAT. Some pages state prices excluding VAT, others do not say.

Root access and virtualisation

Root access differs between managed plans. Ginernet, Liquid Web and InMotion state that root access is included. hosting.com states that root access is not provided on its managed Linux VPS plans, because this lets it patch and maintain the system. If you need to install your own software, this point can matter more than the price.

Managed VPS hosting plans by vCPU

The tables below group plans by the number of vCPU, from 2 up to 16. Within a group, RAM and storage differ, so read the second column before the price. A row marked as could not be re-verified means the provider page we read did not show that figure.

What each provider's management covers

The managed scope is the main reason one plan costs more than another. The table summarises what each provider's own page says. We paraphrased the pages and did not judge the quality of the service.

Provider What the provider says its management covers What the provider says is not covered, or limited
Hosterion Install, configure and secure the OS and cPanel/WHM; monitoring of services, disks, memory and load; OS and cPanel updates including critical security updates; backup set-up and monthly restore tests; DNS set-up; brute-force firewall rules; ModSecurity rules; migration of up to 20 cPanel accounts; 24/7 support Malware scanning is on request. Support covers site set-up and site-related troubleshooting
Ginernet Set-up with their standard configuration; OS and cPanel updates and security patches; 24/7 monitoring; tuning of PHP, database and cache; troubleshooting of causes on the server Your websites, code, plugins and database content; account, mailbox and DNS day-to-day work; custom software outside the cPanel ecosystem; changes to the base system by root
Liquid Web Fully managed plans: 24/7 support, hardware and network help, monitoring, system and control panel updates, firewall set-up, PHP support, help with backups and restores Self-managed plans leave OS updates, security, troubleshooting and maintenance to the customer. A core managed level also exists; its scope was not on the page we read
InMotion Set-up and migration (Launch Assist), cPanel and WHM maintained, security patches and OS updates, daily automatic backups, 24/7 support Advanced security, 300 GB of backup storage and senior-admin access are in the paid Premier Care add-on
hosting.com OS and software patching, firewall set-up and maintenance, 24/7 server monitoring, daily backup configuration, migrations Application code, CMS plugin updates and content. Root access is not provided on these plans
iv.lt Server maintenance, security, 24/7 monitoring every 5 minutes, 24/7 problem response, backups Root access and virtualisation type: not re-verified; ask the provider
CloudAcropolis Network edge configuration, system metric monitoring, firewall maintenance, OS security patches, backup administration Your sites and application code stay under your control

Price points that change the comparison

Introductory price and renewal price

Several plans show a low price for a first term and a higher renewal price. ScalaHosting shows $22.46 for Build #1 and $54.95 on renewal. InMotion shows several price variants per size, so read its current page. Time4VPS shows different prices by billing period, so read the page for the term you plan to buy. Hosterion shows a single price with no stated renewal change and gives one month free for a year paid in advance.

Licence cost by account count

cPanel's own price page lists, excluding VAT and for monthly billing, $29.99 per month for 1 account (Solo), $35.99 for up to 5 (Admin), $53.99 for up to 30 (Pro) and $69.99 for up to 100 (Premier). The page also states that licence prices will be adjusted from 16 December 2026 for new orders and renewals. A provider that includes a cPanel licence for 5 accounts is therefore including a cost that grows with every account you add.

Hosterion states the extra cost in euros: 30 accounts adds €21 per month and 50 accounts adds €34. For a Hosterion CM16 at €124 with 30 accounts, the total is therefore €145 per month, excluding VAT, because the provider says the licence price is added to the package price. Ginernet lists €30 for 5 accounts, €45 for 30 and €60 for 50. ScalaHosting says SPanel costs nothing extra, and iv.lt includes DirectAdmin. Our own PFHW has no account limit.

Figures we could not re-verify

  • hosting.com: the vendor page shows specifications but no price in the text we read, so we show no price.
  • Liquid Web: the page lists cPanel, Plesk and InterWorx as available but gives no licence price.
  • Time4VPS: the price of a licence above 5 accounts was not on the page we read.
  • ScalaHosting, InMotion and GreenGeeks: no account limit is stated on the plan pages we read.
  • InMotion: the page does not say what separates the four price variants shown for each size.

How to use this managed VPS comparison

  1. Estimate the number of control panel accounts you need, and add the licence cost for that count to any plan that bills it separately.
  2. Decide who restores backups and how fast: self-service in the panel, or a support request.
  3. Compare renewal prices, not first-term prices, for the term you will actually run managed VPS hosting.
  4. Check the location of the data centre if data residency matters to your clients.
  5. Ask the provider for the management scope in writing before you order.

Where PFHW fits, and where it does not

Our Managed Web Server is a dedicated virtual server in a Tier III data centre in Vilnius, managed by our engineers, with the PFHW control panel included. Plans run from €29 per month for 2 vCPU and 4 GB RAM to €99 for 16 vCPU and 32 GB RAM, billed monthly in euros excluding VAT, with no contract and no price rise on renewal. The panel has no limit on sites or accounts, so the licence-by-account effect described above does not apply.

It fits agencies, freelancers and resellers who host many client accounts on one server and want the panel cost inside the price. It also fits those who need EU data residency.

It does not fit every case. PFHW is not cPanel: it has no automatic certificate issuing (no AutoSSL or Let's Encrypt), so certificates are uploaded or bought from us. Email is a separate add-on, not part of the server price, and webmail, autoresponders, email filters and spam-filter settings are on the separate mail server rather than in the PFHW portal. There are no mailing lists, no hotlink or leech protection, no per-account dedicated IP management, and the portal interface is English only at present. If you need any of these inside the panel, or a provider in another region, choose accordingly.

Frequently asked questions

What is managed VPS hosting?

It is a virtual private server whose set-up, updates, security patches and monitoring are done by the provider. The exact scope differs by provider, so read the management description of each plan.

Does the price of a managed VPS include cPanel?

Often a licence for a small number of accounts is included, for example 5 accounts at Hosterion and Time4VPS. More accounts usually cost extra. One provider in this comparison, hosting.com, lists cPanel Solo, which covers 1 account.

What is the best managed VPS hosting?

It depends on your needs, so we do not rank providers. Compare the licence and account limit, management scope, backup restore method, renewal price and data centre location against what you host.

Why are managed VPS prices so different?

Plans differ in RAM, storage, licence cost, management scope and whether the price is introductory. A cheap first-term price can be more than double on renewal.

How many websites can I run on a managed VPS?

The number of websites is often unlimited, but the number of control panel accounts is limited by the licence. An account is one panel user, which can hold several domains.
